Learning about First Aid with The British Red Cross

Last week we had our first session with Emma from the British Red  Cross.  She talked to us about what we should do if we saw a stranger needing first aid.

She reminded us that we need to be careful around strangers and aware of ‘Stranger Danger’ but we can still get help.

We agreed the best…

Remembrance Day

Today we have been thinking about Remembrance Day. We read a text about what Remembrance Day is and how we remember all the people that died in war.

Together we made poppies and made a wreath to show we care.

Practical first aid

This week, our first aid session with Emma was practical.  We began by watching a YouTube clip called “Unresponsive and Not Breathing”.  From this we discussed what the right thing to do would be.

After that, we practised putting someone in the recovery position.

Brilliant bridges.

Over the past few weeks we have been looking at, designing, making and evaluating bridges.

Pupils in year 2 had a very exciting afternoon making their own bridges yesterday. Children designed and made a bridge in their KAGAN group using only newspaper. To finish, we had a class challenge to see which one of the bridges was the strongest! Tomorrow we will evaluate our bridges…

Great with grammar …

Recently we have been learning about the past and present tense.  We were given words and had to sort them into those that were in the past and those that were in the present tense.

After that, we went onto the iPads and grammar bug.  Miss Bunn had allocated a past and present tense task.  We…
