We watched a video about a little girl called Sophia who celebrated the Jewish festival of Hanukkah with her family. We learnt all about the traditions including decorations, candles, songs, games, prayers and food. We followed a recipe for latke (potato pancakes) and made them. The Jewish people eat oily foods at Hanukkah to remind them of the miracle of the oil in the lamp when the Maccabees reclaimed the temple. We thought they were delicious!
