Today we were visited by Hannah and Lizzie, who have both lived and worked in Africa. Lizzie told us all about the village school she worked at in Tanzania. She showed us photographs and videos of the school and the children. It is very different to Springfield. The classroom is outside and they don’t have any toys. They eat the same meal for school dinners every day. There is a leopard who lives near the village and it sometimes steals the chickens! The children learn English and maths like us, but they also learn Swahili, which is their first language. We loved watching them sing and dance! There is only one tap for the whole village and the older children have to collect the water daily to make their porridge.

Hannah showed us Burkina Faso on the map and told us about the city that she worked in. She showed us the hat that she had to wear every day to protect herself from the hot African sun. Hannah performed puppet shows for children in Africa and showed us an African puppet that she had bought while living there. They also showed us some of the clothes worn by the villagers.
