The children have had a fantastic first day. We arrived at the hostel and had our lunch. Then we walked into York and became archeologists at Dig. Here they dug up Roman, Saxon, Viking and Victorian homes and discovered some interesting remnants from the past. They also sorted out real historical artefacts into different categories.

After Dig, we went to Jorvik where we enjoyed a ride through the streets of Viking Coppergate; it looked and smelt just like Viking Jorvik.

Once we arrived back at the hostel, the children were assigned their rooms, much to their delight. Following this they had a delicious tea of either lasagna or jacket potato. Finally, they enjoyed some group activities at the hostel (building a Viking longship and building a Viking catapult).
